What happened and what’s next?

2021 was a year of significance for both the company and the mashme platform. As we set our sights on 2022, it’s a perfect time to reflect on all that has been accomplished and the exciting future that lies ahead.

The mashme team started the year in much the same way as it had ended, continuing to work remotely under the lockdown conditions in various countries in which they operate. The flexible architecture inherent in the Room of the Future solution became increasingly important, and as the hybrid use case began to resonate as the new normal, the mashme platform gained traction with many new teaching and learning directors. As always, the team was able to take onboard valuable client feedback and move with agility to deliver upon a number of key initiatives.

The product team embarked on a series of impressive new features and enhancements improving the platform’s functionality, ease of use, and the introduction of new 3rd party integrations. Notably, the support of iOS and Safari in release 4.0 delivered remote access from any device. Soon to follow, improved engagement tools, advanced testing and in-app device management in 4.2, and integrations with Miro, Mentimeter, and Vevox to sit alongside the full Google Suite in 4.3. Release 4.4 brought virtual and blurred backgrounds and finally 4.5 introduced new XL Speaker functionality, where the last person automatically appears enlarged on the video wall – ideal for hybrid use case scenarios.

The brand-agnostic architecture further allowed mashme integration partners to add value by designing and delivering unique hardware solutions and services, taking advantage of the latest technologies to provide bespoke and customized builds to their clients and to deepen the teaching and learning experience. New partnership agreements were signed in the US, Latin America, and Europe further expanding the platform’s global range within the higher education and corporate training sectors.

In October 2021, the acquisition of SyncRTC Inc. by the LoopUp group was announced. This marked a key milestone in mashme’s history and offered some exciting opportunities for the evolution of the platform and the team. With hybrid-working set to become widespread in the post-pandemic workplace, the company is now geared to bring meaningful differentiation to both LoopUp’s Collaboration and Managed Events in large-format installations. The core mashme software-as-a-service video collaboration deliverables will be further enhanced in 2022; High-quality video with extremely low latency to accommodate an increasingly large number of remote students, and a significantly improved suite of engagement tools in the hybrid learning environment will be amongst some of the developments planned this year. Victor Sanchez, CEO, and Co-Founder of mashme has moved to the position of Group CTO for LoopUp and will be leading this initiative.

In summary, and as part of the LoopUp family, the mashme team will continue to serve its customers and partners in delivering the highest levels of support and services for the Room of the Future product, while strategically accelerating its product development goals.

“We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead, and working on many new projects bringing seamless video collaboration to new clients in new markets across the globe”, said Marcus Greensit, COO, mashme. “On behalf of the team, we wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2022!”
